"After five years together, I was still in love with my husband. That would probably have been a good thing, except I was serving him divorce papers."
Hawaii may be the island of romance according to the travel brochures - but for Keeley Baker-Kekuhi, lately it's been anything but. She's broke, stuck in a dead-end job - and her husband has just dumped her for a hula dancer. Even worse, he's now demanding custody of their four-year-old son. No wonder she's about to throw in the towel on love.
Enter Ian Gardiner, an artists' rep whose boyish good looks catch Keeley's eye. It may be his connection to one of Britain's most famous pop icons, however, that stands to capture her heart. But is he just too good to be true . . .?
This wry, witty and very funny romantic comedy follows Keeley's rollercoaster emotional journey as she encounters a bongo-playing divorce lawyer, a pet iguana called Ignatius, a disturbing erotic origami exhibition and a long-dormant volcano that's about to make its presence felt in a highly explosive way.
"Smart, engaging and as refreshing as a dip in the surf..." Jennifer Weiner, author of GOOD IN BED

Synopsis
A wry, witty and very funny romantic comedy set in Hawaii. 'After five years together, I was still in love with my husband. That would probably have been a good thing, except I was serving him divorce papers.' Keeley Baker is an academic drawn to Hawaii in search of volcanoes and love. At the beginning of the novel, she has just been dumped by her husband, Kam, a native Hawaiian five years her junior, who has left her for a hula dancer. This sends Keeley into a temporary emotional spin and the novel follows her journey - by way of a papier mache erotica exhibition, an escaped pet iguana, an out-of-control children's birthday party and an erupting volcano - as she learns to pull herself up by the sandal straps and move on with her life.

Fantastic Read
This book has the advantage of being set in Hawaii, in my opinion the nicest place on earth. Keeley is a woman reluctantly divorcing her unsuitable, unfaithful yet beautiful husband and father of her son. I found this book to be very touching and funny. She's a smart lady but she doesn't always make the best decisions, but I was still hoping she would win the whole time! The supporting characters seemed less realistic but were still you really felt for them all. I have never been divorced but I imagine that this is what it would be like, you want them to want you back.
