Product Description

'I don't know that you have done anything wrong,' Miss Hepplewhite said. 'But it is possible that you have done something rather dangerous.' William and Susie thought they were just playing a game when they cooked a witch's brew in the old barn and said a spell over it, but Martha was not so sure. And indeed, the three friends soon learn that they have called up something dark and evil out of the distant past . . .

The Whispering Knights: A Beloved Treasure5
Ever since our primary school teacher read us 'The Whispering Knights', I have been spellbound its magic. Immediately persuading my mum to buy it for me, I have read it repeatedly over the years, always with the same childlike wonder and enthrallment. An adventure of spells, witches, and ancient mystical monuments surrounding three village children: Martha, Susie & William; 'The Whispering Knights' is a fantastic story with the power to evoke the wildest magical dreams in a child's imagination. Superbly written and illustrated, it is in my opinion the best of Penelope Lively's works. I still count it as my favourite book ever. Exciting, scary & simply unforgettable. Now, reaching my mid-twenties, my original copy is so worn the pages have fallen out, and I find myself in search of a pristine copy so I can enjoy it again.
