Customer Reviews
Heap on the literary prizes
Heap on the literary prizes for this articulate first novel. Blending mystery with emotive events and real characters (in the sense that you believe in them, not that they existed), this is one of the great modern reads. What a story! And how well-written.
Wonderful, well written
What a great book - the effortless way this very convoluted tale is written is truly excellent.
It's intriguing, sad, inspiring - I could go on........
World War 2 and the terrible savagery invoked by the Third Reich against the Jews is so deftly dealt with, actually not in long detailed description but in well chosen phraseology.
There is, somehow, in this book a sense of the divine being played out in the background and, really, I suppose, that this is the author's intention all along.
All in all, a great read which I very much enjoyed
not that good !
I've only ever given up on 2 books and this was one i've given it 2 stars because there is a good story in this book its just the author can't get it out of it. He try's to impress with big words and makes the simplest of sentences string out i gave up after 90 pages it was like walking through glue
