Fave Recent CD's That Have Energy/Innovation Or Both
Auf Der MaurAuf Der Maur by Auf Der Maur
Buy new: £9.98 / Used from: £1.54
Fills a void left by the demise of the Smashing Pumpkins without being just a pale re-tread
Sonic NurseSonic Nurse by Sonic Youth
Buy new: £7.48 / Used from: £7.47
For a self-confessed fair weather Youth fan, this is brilliant, mildly commercial for them but hidden depths that reward repeated listening
Half Man Half MachineHalf Man Half Machine by Goldie Lookin' Chain
Buy new: £0.02 / Used from: £0.01
A novelty act maybe, but one with a bit of imagination. Who knows if it will last for them but if its as entertaining as this single the skys the limit
Modern ApprenticeModern Apprentice by Ikara Colt
Buy new: £7.49 / Used from: £1.98
The kind of music I expect when reading reviews of tosh like the Libertines and Strokes. Bit of real rock n roll energy and passion with this lot.
Misery Is a ButterflyMisery Is a Butterfly by Blonde Redhead
Buy new: £9.98 / Used from: £5.95
American Indie Harpsichord Pop. Use of just one slightly strange instrument makes them sound totally otherwordly. Highly recomended
Uh Huh HerUh Huh Her by P J Harvey
Buy new: £4.55 / Used from: £3.91
Latest PJ CD not one of her best but still has more originality and passion than most of the bigger indie bands about today. A classic artist
MoratoriaMoratoria by Bikini Atoll
Buy new: £1.98 / Used from: £1.19
Just love the waves of guitar that wash over you on this album. American Indie at its best. Perfect length also, doesn't outstay its welcome which is a rare commodity these days
Speakerboxxx / The Love Below [Explicit Version]Speakerboxxx / The Love Below [Explicit Version] by Outkast
Buy new: £0.90 / Used from: £0.09
Like alot of rap I could do without all the skits though some are amusing but you can't argue with songs the quality of Hey Ya and Roses. One of The Most Innovative Hip Hop acts about
Aw C'mon/No You C'monAw C'mon/No You C'mon by Lambchop
Buy new: £11.98 / Used from: £4.50
Big Lambchop fan, they always seem to progress a bit with each album. Obvious reference points with them but they seem to be able to use well worn genres and still produce timeless innovative music
Sweet LibertySweet Liberty by Cara Dillon
Buy new: £6.48 / Used from: £9.04
Not a big folk music fan but am partial to the occasional act. Cara Dillon is that artist at present. She is kind of in between proper folk and Beth Orton indie folk. And superb also.
Polysics Or DiePolysics Or Die by Polysics
Buy used from: £36.13
Have only just heard 2 tracks by this band but am very impressed and can't wait for the album. Shouty silly thrashy indie rock but just sounds so good.
