Jim Cheshire is best known as the owner of Jimco, the most popular producer of freeware add-ins for Microsoft FrontPage. Jim is also the author of Special Edition Using Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003, the highest-rated book on FrontPage 2003.
In his real job, Jim works as an Escalation Engineer at Microsoft on the ASP.NET team. He has worked on the FrontPage, Visual Basic, ASP, IIS, and ASP.NET teams at Microsoft over the last 8 years.

Expression Web - the Definitive Guide
This is an excellent companion to the new Microsoft website design program. It is clearly written, with helpful diagrams of the many dialogue boxes. There is a comprehensive index, essential for any good reference book. The book covers all aspects of Expression Web in a straightforward and uncomplicated way. This makes it suitable both for amateur web designers (like me) and for those with a more professional requirement. Within the text are boxes marked 'note' 'tip' or 'caution'. These have clearly been written by an author with a good grasp of the product who is familiar with it's day to day use.
Special Edition Using Microsoft Expression Web
If you still are a MS FrontPage user then this book Special Edition Using Microsoft Expression Web may help you make the transition to Expression Web. I manage several web sites built with FrontPage and needed to make the transition because my web-server provider removed the FP extensions on the Linux platform. I would not class myself as an expert or professional designer, but a typical FP user. This book is not the ideal first step for a person who only has experience of MS FrontPage. The first 200 pages or so are focused on features that were (or are) in FP but as there are nearly 700 pages (excluding index) the remainder of the book is very useful in helping you move from FP to EW. If you are totally new to building Web sites then the book will prove to be essential. The tutorials are good and each chapter contains a helpful trouble-shooting section to help identify what you didn't do correctly when followng the examples. Chapter 31 "Developing a Login System with ASP.NET" is a typical example of how this book goes beyong the basics to help you develop a better web site. Another very useful benefit of the book is the accompanying CD ROM contains a complete E-Book version, making it easy to search for a particular topic. I am pleased that I purchased "Special Edition Using Microsoft Expression Web" it is an excellent reference book that is assisting me develop and improve my ASP Net web site design.
Other books I purchased were "Step by Step Microsoft Expression Web" (Chris Leeds) and "Foundations of Microsoft EW" (Cheryl D Wise.
I think the Chris Leeds Book is the ideal starter book and best read before moving onto "Special Edition Using Microsoft Expression Web", but my view is you would not need to purchase the EW book by Cheryl Wise if you have either of the previously mentioned books on your book shelf.
Good Book
This is a good book to use with Microsoft Expression Web. I'm a novice having never tried web design and I'm already starting to get professional looking websites. Very pleased.
