Great Grandad was a peat bog digger
Now people think that all programs about our past are the same, well this one is not. I have looked at quite a few and this one is in English, so we can all understand it. You can start with any person and work up or down the tree. One great thing this has over the competion is that if a person had had more than one partner, you can show them all (the most in my tree is four), you can add as much or as little about a person as you want. People are the only snag to this program - they will not and they do not always tell the truth. My daughter got 95% in her homework, so she was pleased. Make yourself happy and buy this one first. The extra discs that you get here are a great help and before long you have the feeling of being able to do the whole street. Yes get it.

Family tree maker programme purchases
My comment relates to the '* day subscription to Ancestry.co.uk' offered by these programmes (* depends on the version) and this element is clearly a purchase not a 'free trial'. However to activate this one has to provide credit card details and nominally purchase a year's sub which will start automatically when your original subscription expires....unless you remember to cancel it!! This requirement is very hard to find on Ancestry.com website being under terms and conditions (those words barely readable) at the bottom of the web page ie. the area most people never read. In Amazon this is made more clear with an asterisked link to the condition nevertheless this kind of default selling should not, in my opinion, be allowed. If you simply bought this programme 'off the shelf' in a PC shop you would not know about these conditions until too late. So far I find the programme itself is ok but I only award my 3 stars because of those conditions.
