ten things i h8 about me3
The novel "Ten THings I hate about me is written in a first person response by the brilliant author Randa Abdel-Fattah. Although this is only the authors second novel it still has great meaning and an even better story behind it This novel looks at racial issues and discrimination against Lebanese-Muslims or other wise known as Wogs and acknowledges the facts of reality. Jamillah Towfeek is a young Lebanese-Muslim who has dyed her hair blonde, wears blue contacts and avoids any chance of anybody getting too close to her. She has used just about every excuse in history as to why she cant go to parties, hang out at the mall with her mates and why her friends never stay over for the night. Asiding the fact that her father has a list of what she is not allowed to do posted on the refridgerator, her father is a single parent who speaks very little English which leaves Jamie, with the problem of translating every two words on the television for him. This book is great, it analysises real issues that young adolescants in Jamilah Towfeeks position and gives you a bit of an understanding of their outlook upon life. I would reccomend it to anyone who is interested in Lebanese-Muslims that live in Australia. No they do not all crash planes into buildings, so dont jump to conclusions. This book is great and so is the author.

this is randa abdel- fattah's second novel and is better than the first...that's coz the more u write the better u get!!!! this is about a lebanese-muslim girl who is scared of her identity and sterotypes...she hides herself...who she really is from everyone until she can no longer take it anymore and wnats to break free!!!

this is a wonderfully written story...an accintilating read whcih will make u laugh at times, shout at the character for being stupid and blind and when u get to the end of the book, u'll turn the page expecting another chapter!!!!

YOU HAVE TO GET THIS BOOK ON UR BOOKSHELVE...ALSO HER OTHER BOOK AS THAT IS A TREASURE OF A BOOK, ESPECIALLY IF UR THINKING FO WERAING A HIJAB OR WNAT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT HOW IT FEELS TO BE A MUSLIM GIRL GROWING UP IN AUSTRALIA!!!

this book is great, i started it around lunchime and finished it by evening. i couldnt put it down. its about a girl who goes to a school which is split up into groups of arabs, asians, austrailians etc. she isnt australian but her friends dont know this because she dyed her hair blonde. she has a really strict dad who wont let her do any thing.
she plays in a band where she is with people of her own, this is where she lets her hair down because she can be herself.
meeting a boy on the internet she doesnt know who he is and tells him everything. it turns out that he goes to her school.
at the end she has a decision to make as the band she goes to is playing at her school prom. she wouldnt miss it for the world, but then everyone would find out who she really was?
