Customer Reviews
How could you not rate this 5 stars?
If you're reading this review I'm sure you already know of the capabilities of this mouse; and if you haven't already added this to your cart I'd say scroll up and do it now. You know you want to.
Boasting a 2000dpi in a mouse it not only feels and acts exactly how you want - you will find your accuracy in using lower dpi mouses will also increase too. You shouldn't worry if you don't get used to this right away, with a dpi this high it may be hard to get used to.
The only problem I've had is that the middle scrolling button feels slightly unnatural, you'll get used to it fast enough.
The best thing to do would be to try the mouse beforehand to see if you like it. It works for me perfectly, so it may work for you too.
Excellent for first 5 months, but disappointing thereafter...
I bought this as my first gaming mouse; it was a choice between this and the Logitech G5. I went with Razer as they only made gaming products, and the copperhead looked brilliant (both the copperhead and the G5 have exactly the same laser powering them) so looks were the only thing that I used to differentiate them.
It is designed for right and left handers, has 4 side buttons and the usual 2 big buttons and a scroll wheel. The Teflon feet glide over any mousepad with little or no friction at all. The DPI of 2000 makes this an ultra sensitive beast, using 1600 is good enough for most gamers.
Razer's build quality has always been under question, and I choose to ignore this fact when I bought this mouse. It has hardly left my computer table so I believed it won't break down as fast as other copperheads in the market. However, after 6 months of pretty solid use, the left mouse button started acting funny - it double clicks when you single click in windows and sometimes never clicks at all. This is pretty frustrating when you are trying to rename a file for example, or just browsing the internet.
That wasn't the only problem I had with the mouse. About a week later, the mouse would disconnect itself from the pc and reconnect with the familiar usb sound from windows. So, for about 10 seconds my mouse is dead and there is no response. This usually only happens in game, and it gets very annoying as it puts you at a severe disadvantage to others. Lately, it has begun to disconnect in windows as well, making it twice as annoying and forcing me to look for a different mouse.
The problems mentioned above are quite widespread - a quick google search would result in thousands of sites where people have the same problem. Razer customer support are slow to respond (at best) or don't reply at all. They won't take my mouse back as I don't live in the US.
In conclusion, this mouse was brilliant for the first 5 months of use, but thereafter the build quality of Razer products results in diminishing performance, forcing you to buy another mouse.
Contrary to popular opinion...............
Having read most of the reviews for this product I can't help but feel that it's about time that someone stood up for this noble beast of a mouse.
I've owned, used and abused my beloved Copperhead for over a year now and it's going to take one hell of a piece of kit to make me abandon it. It has performed flawlessly throughout our time together and to all those that have commented on build quality and reliability I can only say 'what on earth have you been doing with it???'.
Admittedly I have modded the mouse with the Copperhead Pro Tools kit that is available through various channels which has made the mouse roughly 45g heavier (I like to feel what I'm playing with!), but this isn't for everyone and once you adapt to the way the mouse initially feels you'll soon realise that the effort was worth it.
There isn't a game that I've played that the Copperhead can't cope with and once you use the driver software to 'Map' the extra keys to specific in-game options you'll be accessing weapons and moves in ways which weren't previously possible. One of the key features is the On-The-Fly sensitivity adjustment - lining up the perfect sniper shot one second and then spinning a tank turret 360 with a flick of your wrist the next!
You want accuracy, speed and realiability? You want the mouse that can take your gaming to the next level? Then the Copperhead is for you! I implore you - don't let the name of this technological beauty be sullied or bullied into submission.
