Amazon.co.uk Review
Andrea Bocelli's Sogno ("Dream") is a pop album of entirely original compositions that evoke traditional and modern influences. Bocelli himself describes the CD as secular Italian traditional melodic music with a contemporary twist. The album's 14 tracks include "The Prayer", a Bocelli and Celine Dion duet produced by David Foster; "Come un Fiume Tu", an intriguing collaboration with soundtrack maestro Ennio Morricone; "O Mare e Tu", a duet with Dulce Pontes; and "Sogno" (the first single excerpted from the album), a light-as-a-feather, emotional composition sung by Bocelli with his typical vocal emphasis, which has made him famous around the world since the release of his self-titled debut. --Ernesto De Pascale

CD Description
There seems to be no end to the market for Latin tenors whoinhabit the peculiar world most often termed "crossover". The well-known "Three Tenors" travel the boundaries between classical music, songs from their homelands and European pop songs frequently and with ease. The success of these artistsis also being enjoyed by Bocelli, who was launched as a superstar in the United States in late 1997 by pledge-time showings of his television special on PBS. His then-current album ROMANZA shot up the charts, followed in short order by VIAGGIO ITALIANO (a mix of opera and traditional Italian songs in the manner of Mario Lanza or Enrico Caruso) and ARIA-THE OPERA ALBUM.
Now with SOGNO (Italian for "dream", pronounced "soh-nyo") Bocelli returns to the all-pop sound of ROMANZA. The program is entirely in Italian, with translations provided, and fans of the tenor need not fear disappointment. Duets with Celine Dion, Dulce Pontes, and Eros Ramazzotti are highlights, and Bocelli is in top form throughout. For those who've not yet made this singer's acquaintance, SOGNO makes an excellent introduction. Be warned, however, that it may induce cravings for his previous albums!

An introduction to opera5
Quite simply the voice that will convert the most hardened opera critic. Although this album is not strictly all opera, it's a good introduction for "beginners" (like myself) and led to me buying his opera CD's. I feel Andrea Bocelli could sing the contents of a telephone directory and make the experience worthwhile. I played this particular CD to a (operaphobic) friend who cried because she had never heard anything so beautiful. Nuff said.

Sogno grows on you (as does Cieli di Toscana)5
I have all of Bocelli's CDs and for me this ranks number 1, followed closely by Cieli di Toscana. As with most of his works, the first time of hearing doesn't have too great an impact but the music grows on you. I will be humming a tune during the day and wonder what is that? Then I remember that it's off the Sogno album or Cieli di Toscana album. I then cannot wait to get home so that I can play the cd again. His voice is great, the tunes are melodious and the overall production superb.
Highly recommended.

a brilliant introduction to light opera5
I had never listened to opera before as I thought I did not like it, then I heard the second track on the CD (a duet with Celine Dion) on a concert on TV. The hairs at the back of my neck stood up and I got goosebumps all over. I found out that the track was on 'Songno' and purchased it straight away. My usual music tastes are Bryan Adams, Queen and Ronan Keating so as you can imagine this CD was very different. Andrea Bocelli has one of the most amazing voices I have ever heard and the whole CD is a Joy to listen to. I have now totally worn out the CD and I am just about to order another but I thought I would share my views with you.
