plastic gears can shear - no replacements when they do
Had mine for just over a year - carefully used, now the motor spins, but there's no-one home! (blades do not engage). The gear inside that connects to the drive is plastic, and has sheared in one place. Fellowes website says no parts for this model. My conclusion? Ok for very careful use, but plastic gears don't cut the mustard. Won't replace with same.
Plastic gears
Dont buy this shredder. Had one, accidentally a coin fell off my desk into it, and trashed it immediately. It has plastic gears that immediately sheared off. Called fellows to get a replacement gear, they claim it's not servicable, throw it away!
I dont like disposable products, shame on you fellowes.
Good Shredder!
I have to disagree with the previous review. The fault is with your accident and an everyday shredder is hardly something you expect to be serviced. The good points are it cross shreds paper into tiny pieces, you are able to see through as too how full it is and it is of a reasonable size (33cm tall approx). It is noisy but nothing to complain about. A v similar but cheaper P50CM is available at Argos for 19.99.
