A magical alternative interpretation of English folklore5
This book finishes the journey of Thuro begun in "The Ghost King". Gemmell fantastically weaves an alternative explanation for the legendary King Arthur. I found this book spell-binding, I just couldn't stop reading it. The characters seemed to have more depth because they all have a place in our hearts and minds. I felt their pain, I shared their tears and as always when I read a Gemmell novel I was devastated when it reached its end! Fantasy at its very best - may Gemmell write forever!!

Excellent read !5
If you enjoyed The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings or any other fantasy type novels, then you simply must give David Gemmell a chance. He wrote many books, based around particular 'worlds' which make up a series. Sadly he died a few years ago so these excellent books won't be supplemented in the future. I firmly believe him to be the very best fantasy author of recent times and strongly urge you to give him a try. He links accepted historical information and moulds it into fiction in such a way that it is very believable and draws you into that world. You really won't be dissapointed.

A fine finish to a good story5
This book continues the story of Uther, giving a satifying end to the story begun in Ghost King.
