Amazon.co.uk Review
Glamorous Maddie Hayes (Cybill Shepherd) is an ex-model with a problem--her accountant just ran off with her money. Granted, he did leave her with a few broken-down businesses. One happens to be a detective agency run by charming loudmouth David Addison (Bruce Willis). Her attempt to shutter the agency fails when they stumble across a crime and David convinces Maddie to help him solve it. And with that, one of television's most popular partnerships was born. Moonlighting made a star out of newcomer Willis and turned Shepherd (Taxi Driver), who had already found fame through fashion and film, into a bona fide TV star.
Created for TV by Glenn Gordon Caron (Remington Steele), the romantic comedy/detective drama was a mid-season replacement that quickly became a hit. There were only six episodes in the first season, including the two-part pilot, but 18 were produced for the second. The first two seasons attracted an eclectic array of guest stars, including Tim Robbins ("Gunfight at the So-So Corral") and Whoopi Goldberg ("Camille"), who earned an Emmy nomination for her performance. The most notable guest was surely Orson Welles, who introduces the black and white noir spoof "The Dream Sequence Always Rings Twice". It would be his final TV appearance. Moonlighting ran for three more years. While the Emmy-winning Willis would abandon TV for the big screen, Shepherd found subsequent small screen success with Cybill. Caron, meanwhile, would launch another mid-season replacement series which became a surprise hit: NBC's Medium with Patricia Arquette. --Kathleen C. Fennessy, Amazon.com
Synopsis
Representing the point at which American television reached a level of mature artistry, Moonlighting took the medium to new heights of sophistication while maintaining a sense of lighthearted fun. Fusing the drama and comedy genres while offering convoluted plotlines filled with "serious" situations and cultural references, the show delivered laughs according to the tropes of more straightforward sitcoms. The show is focused on uncompromising former model Maddie Hayes (Cybill Shepherd, Taxi Driver, The Last Picture Show), who loses her fortune to an embezzling accountant; all she has left are a few money-losing businesses retained as tax write-offs. Among these is the Blue Moon Detective Agency, which Maddie plans to sell off until the fast-talking detective David Addison (Bruce Willis, Die Hard, The Sixth Sense, Pulp Fiction) convinces her that the business can turn a profit. The two form a partnership, solving the eccentric cases that are forever turning up at Blue Moon. Meanwhile, the wisecracking, smart, but slovenly David and the beautiful, icy, slightly snobbish Maddie navigate the growing romantic tension between them. In the first two series, Maddie and David discover a dead body that goes missing as soon as they report it; a woman who thinks she's a leprechaun wants to hire Blue Moon's services; and a man who has put a hit on himself hires Dave and Maddie to call it off.

A delightful moonlighting
This series out of the 80s is wonderful!
Cybill Shepherd and Bruce Willis are a great couple and you just have to love them.
Maddie is a former now (thanks to her accountant) poor super-model, who has two choices: Closing and selling the detective agency she owns or make it a profitable business. Charming and funny David Addison - a childish detective- teams up with her to rescue his agency and together they make a hell of a team.

Really this show is just wonderful and a must-have!
And as a special tip: The price for this DVD Box (seasons 1 & 2) is even too good to let it go!
I like it by day and night
When I watched moonlighting as a young man, I found the quirky detective series great and I would watch every episode. Watching the DVD first 2 season set brought back all those laugh, with the much younger wise cracking Bruce Willis and Cybil Shepperd's foil. It still works, fantastic.
Nostalgic
I loved Moonlighting when it first aired.
Now, many years later, it is not exactly the same. To be perfectly honest, it is somewhat outdated and very corny. But I still enjoy having the first two seasons available, for that nostalgic trip down memory lane every now and then.
