The Sonics are garage rock at its finest. Distorted guitars, drums beaten to within an inch of their lives and screaming vocals with enough blood curdling whoops to raise your granny from the dead.

Ignore all those jazz noodlings on Trout Mask and pick this little number up. A great set of swampy psychadelic rock from the Captain, with Ry Cooder on guitar. Excellent stuff

If you can find a way to ignore the constant wobble board sound that they felt the need to include in every single one of their songs, then this album is packed to the gunnels with trippy genius.

This has it all; Foxy Lady, Stone Free, Fire and of course Purple Haze. Jasper anyone. Mind the bean bags!

Quite simply barking mad.

Although this is the album that made Janis Joplin famous, it's the guitar of James Gurley that's the star. It literally screams throughout. The father of acid freakouts.

You've partied your little hippy socks off, and now it really is time to clear the house. If this doesn't do the trick then nothing will. The albums called God's Tadger for goodness sake!!

I love early Floyd, and this is one of my faves. Hypnotic drum patterns, bizarre lyrics, random piano bashings, Roger's very unique bass playing. Freaky it certainly is.

Hard to believe this was released when the Beatles were still together. This is the distorted freaked out jam fest to end all. The birth of heavy metal??
