Intended for the beginner and intermediate linguist for home or travelling in mind. Umm, yeah.
Berlitz has written it in away that removes all unnecessary language references. Unfortunately, they have also removed all the necessary language references. Say you want to know the Finnish for "ruler" - it gives you 3 Finnish words, two of them refer to a king type ruler and one word refers to the ruler that draws straight lines. This dictionary does not tell you which is which. There are also words that have incorrect translations, and words that are practically obsellete in Finland.
Also, the pronounciation guide of the Finnish words is very approximate - if you pronounced it like the book tells you too, a Finnish person would not be able to understand what you are saying as the sounds are extremely important.
This dictionary is OK if you know the language good enough to use it as a quick reference/spell-checker only. For a beginner, I do not recommend it.
