Customer Reviews

A brilliant book.5
I'm not a Tomb Raider fan, I've NEVER played any of the games and I have no interest in them, but WOW!!! What a book!
I love well drawn graphic novels and this one is the business!
Over 1200 pages of superb glossy full colour art. This book even SMELLS delicious!
Really good stories, but I'd prefer them to be a little longer... There are about 6 tales in the book in all. Character development is a bit thin, but the brilliant pages of sumptuous drawing makes up for it. If you like graphic novels, you MUST get this book. It's VERY thick so opening the pages wide enough to read them properly is a bit daunting if you don't want to crease the spine, and my goodness, this book is HEAVY!
I would have preferred the book to be a little larger too as it is a bit smaller than A4 size. A superb gallery of different cover art and illustrations is also included. This book is going to set the standards for a lot of books to come. BUY IT, READ IT.

Fun, but could be better3
You really can't argue with the sheer volume of material here. Fifty issues, covering about twelve different stories (That all take place sequentially and often relate to one another) and the artwork is lovely. Perhaps not the greatest out there, and nothing revolutionary, but very pretty.

The problema are the stories themselves. They simply aren't all that good. There is always a massive over reliance on coincedence and even given that it's check-your-brain-at-the-door nature, is often just too stupid for it's own good. It is often entertaining though. It's just a shame there isn't a little more substance or credibility to it.

Another problem is Lara herself. She is often just thet bit super human, which makes it that much harder to care about her. But the writers don't seem to be quite sure if she is English or American, and her speech is littered with hallmarks of both. This is jarring for people who know the character.

Having said that, it is good value for money and there is a lot here. Just don't expect anything new or world shattering and you'll find an entertaining read.

it's also worth noting that this is set BEFORE Legend re-wrote the plot, and contradicts that game all over the place. It may fit in with the old games, I've not played them.
