Editorial Reviews
Synopsis
'The object of this book is to teach all those who wish to learn, how to catch sea-fish, great and small. Within the limits of a small manual it is of course impossible to dilate at great length on any particular detail; but an endeavour has been made to include in these pages such practical information - based on years of experience - as will enable the merest novice to try his hand successfully at any of the various methods of fishing in vogue along our shores. To those who go to the seaside for their annual holiday, it is expected that this little volume will be of special value, as it will not only enable them to select the place best calculated to give good results at the time of the year at which they are able to get away, but will also advise them as to the best way to set about fishing.' Contents Include: Lines and Tackle - Sandy-Bottom Fishing - Rocky-Bottom Fishing - Rod-Fishing - Mackerel-Railing - Long-Line and Night Fishing - Lobsters, Crabs and Crawfish - Shrimps and Prawns - Seasons for Different Fish - General Hints - Fishing Stations - Motor-Boats and Motors for Sea Fishing
Customer Reviews
An amusing antique
This book appears to have been originally published shortly after the turn of the 20th century. If your manservant rows you out to sea to fish for conger with a hemp line this book may be of some use to you. If you are looking for any insight or guidance into modern techniques or equipment I suggest that you look elsewhere.
Sea Fishing
I Purchased this book thinking that it would give me the relevant info and knwoledge to be able to set up and use sea rigs but found that it is a reprint of an old style book, not up to date.
Gave info for fishing locations and where to fish etc but not much use for a beginner, looked over it and read a few pages but not of much use to me.
Found it to be a bit expensive for what it is.
