Fame - Karen Kingsbury
I stumbled across Karen Kingsbury when a friend lent me a book that comes later in this series.
This book is a good read, based on Christian principles, that tackles some of the issues that face those who are popular/famous and the impact it can have on their lives and the lives of those around them. Having read a later book this is very much a scene setter and introduces the characters well. The characters have substance and are beleivable. Though wordy in the odd place the story line flows well, and shifts between places and different lives well. The end leaves you wondering what comes next. The use of prayer / scripture in the story is natural and not forced - it is very much part of the lives of some of the characters.
This is the type of book I would give to both Chritian and non-christian frends. I will be sharing it with the older teenagers in our youth club at church. They are grabbling with some of the issues - around career, who am I, faith, relationships - that this book addresses.
