Can get the same results for a third of the price
I must apologise in advance for the low rating I've given this product. A cabled off-camera solution for flash photography is great for those of us who don't want to spend the money on Canon's wireless triggering system. I'm sure this cable works wonders and does its job perfectly, but it is insanely over priced. It isn't worth the money.
Search for this product's name on a popular auction website and you'll find non-branded cables for around £20. The first question I'm sure you'll ask is this: "Do these non-branded cables support ETTL and ETTL-II information transmission?" The answer is yes. Well, most of them do. You'll know by looking in the product title / description. Just buy from a reputable seller and you'll get the cable you're after that does everything you want.
does what it says
if you need the official article then this is well made and does what it says on the tin, if a little expensive for what it is.
i would probably ask you to judge whether you can do the same with a no-name equivalent..- you can, for a lot cheaper, from experience.
though in my case i didnt want to take the chance with a cheap cable sitting between my expensive camera and expensive flashgun. as they say the choice is yours
Essential piece of kit for off camera flash work
The eTTL enabled Canon OC-E3 off-camera shoe cord is an essential piece of equipment for any photographer using strobes / flashguns. Gone are the days when clients accepted photos taken with the strobe on-camera, resulting in the classic (or classically horrible) 'deer-in-headlights' look.
The Canon OC-E3 can either be used to fire a speedlight off-camera, or connected to the Canon ST-E2 Speedlight Transmitter to fire other off-camera speedlights remotely.
