Manufacturer's Description
Pilot the 727-100/200 in one of four versions with a total of 29 different liveries. This fantastic aircraft has outstanding gmax-built visual models, realistic virtual cockpit plus the textures and config editor and the Check and Set utilities. Whether it was whisking passengers to their destinations in safety and comfort or reliably hauling cargo night after night, the 727 became a firm favourite with operators throughout the world ever since its maiden flight in 1963. Now the acclaimed development team at Captain Sim have brought this aviation legend to Flight Simulator 2002/2004 at an unsurpassed level of detail and authenticity. It's time to fly a classy classic!

Customer Reviews

Older is better5
While there are more modern aircraft available the 727 is a wonderful 3 engine flying challenge. Almost every switch is functional from the overhead panel to the second officers board and APU. Combined with a crew sounds package (ensure you set the language before flying, see the manual) this really adds to the immersion factor in the game.

As an example of the level of detail, in addition to all the critical aircraft systems i.e. fuel (including working fuel dump), hydraulics, and electrical power you can also operate the more discrete systems. Test the fire alerts on the main engines and APU (overriding the auto shutdown of course), test the altitude alerts, the stall warning, and warning lights. Unlike other aircraft where large areas of the panel are just pics of switches, here where you see a switch, 99% of the time you can use it.

Working push back with ground crew chatter, your first officer will talk you through the takeoff checks as you are heading down the runway. In flight you can run through other checklists with your second and first officers, or play a series of pre-recorded messages (4 for captain, 7 for flight crew) to your passengers. In the non virtual cockpit mode you can even view out of the passengers windows.

The autopilot and instruments on this older generation of aircraft make flying a lot more hands on, and a lot more interesting because of it. Make a mistake in this plane and cockpit alarms will soon warn you, with don't sink, pull up, terrain, flaps, too low gear, and other alerts you can always stay on the ball. Combine this with the detailed modelling of the cockpit systems and crew voice package and this is one of the best aircraft you can own for FS 2002 or 2004.

pretty good, not perfect4
this flight simulator add on says that it is for 2002 and 2004 but it seems only to work on flight sim 2002, it is indeed very good and realistic and all the buttons and controls function, the only drawback about this product is that the steps dont seem to be going down at the back of the aircraft, this may only be my software that is being irritating, but it just doesnt seem to be working, i dont want anyone to be put off by this but its not a product to get over excited about becasue its not much more special than any other add on apart from the fact that it is very realistic and yes you do get announcements from the captain and cabin crew
