Not of great use to the serious tourist
I was a bit disappointed with this book as it doesn't really offer much of interest to anyone trying to plan a trip and needing to find out about impressive sights, good quality food and out of the ordinary accommodation.

Aside from some folklore and the back story behind some historical markers you'd probably see or hear about anyway, there are not many recommendations on places to eat or sleep. A lot of what remains in the book is a list of the same tourist traps you see in other guidebooks, but with a bit more hokey description and a few photos.

A lot of what counts as 'quirky' could lead to serious rows with your kids if, for instance, you're trying to entertain them with a detour to the 'world's smallest police station' only to find out that a) it's a phone booth, b) it doesn't even have a phone in it and c) it's not too far away from the town's actual (and much larger) police station. Not nearly as wild and wacky as the book claims...
