Written by a truly understanding man
Most of this book is about the wisdom behind the movements(this is not a how-to book). The last three chapters are on calligraphy, the zen ox pictures, and the Tao Te Ching. A wonderful pulling together the ideas of Taoism.
A magical book about philosophy, not an instruction manual
T'ai Chi books tend to fall into two main categories, those which aim to be instruction manuals and those dealing with the history and philosophy of t'ai chi. This book is unique as it is largly a transcript, or diary, of a Master teaching groups of new students in the West. I re-read it frequently and use ideas from it to help with my own t'ai chi classes. It is beautifully illustrated and a joy to own, but it does not in any way attempt to take the place of more traditional scripts, which also play a valuable part in developing an indivual's knowledge and understanding of the subject. T'ai Chi is a lifetime's study and a way of life that benefits from many and varied inputs. It cannot be learnt from a book, but may be enriched by reading.
Excellent book. Very helpful and easy to understand.
A book that you will read several times over, each time gaining a new & different essense. The author is an amazing
person. Very enlightening. A must read.
