Synopsis
The beauty of goldwork lies in the way it reflects the light when threads and stitches are worked into a design in different ways. The texture, the tones and the shapes all combine to create rich, wonderful embroideries that are a joy to behold. Ruth explains all about the materials, the stitches, how to transfer designs, raise surfaces and much more. Diagrams, patterns and detailed step-by-step photographs illustrate each stage and include superb finished pieces which will appeal to all embroiderers, whatever their skill level. There is very little competition, this is a popular technique. It is a "Needlecrafts" series title.

Beginner's Guide to Goldwork
What a wonderful little book! After a brief history, and materials/equipment needed, we get straight onto the nitty gritty of completing the sampler on the front cover. Some simple but very effective stitches that make this particular sampler stand out. If you've never done goldwork before and fancied a go, this is definitely a must. If you have done goldwork before, this book is still a little treasure, because it's got work and stitches in there I haven't used before. Covers all sorts in its 80 pages. I have recommended it to other people. Well done author Ruth Chamberlin.
