Invisible System - Punt
According to the blurb on the back of the CD - Punt is a fusion of "Ethiopian, Dub, Dance, Rock, Drum And Base, Psychedelia, Trance, Electronics & live improvisations"
How I would describe Punt is - that it is simply a fine album, that throughout multiple listernings reveals the musical taste, history, leanings of it's creators and collaborators, nothing is added or taken away to add artifice, nothing sounds out of place (on many albums I get the feeling that a bassline/break/effect are added to try and prop-up a poor song), just good songs that together make a better album (reminds me why it's still better to get an album than individual songs)
It's often said to write about what you know - it sounds like Dan Harper (Invisible System) really knows his subject matter (according to the cd, he has lived and worked in Africa, so no wonder) - this is an album of suprising depth and quality (ie gets better the more you listen), and a damn good listen.
