Editorial Reviews
CD Description
With this album, years of personnel changes ended for Fleetwood Mac with the departure of guitarist Bob Welch. The remaining core of the group (Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and Christine McVie) invited guitarist/vocalist Lindsey Buckingham and singer Stevie Nicks to join, and thus began the most commercially successful period for Fleetwood Mac. With 3 strong songwriters in Nicks, Buckingham and Christine McVie, FLEETWOOD MAC was their first number-1 album.

Auspicious rebirth
This 1975 self-titled album heralded a renaissance for Fleetwood Mac, a band slowly shedding its early British blues guise and taking its place on the cutting edge of California rock. Alongside already-established musicians John and Christine McVie, and drummer Mick Fleetwood, come guitarist Lindsey Buckingham and singer/songwriter Stevie Nicks. The combination proves, on this album, to be tremendous.
"Fleetwood Mac" spawned the hits 'Over My Head' and 'Say You Love Me' for Christine, whilst Nicks found fame with the entrancing 'Rhiannon'. Buckingham's guitar adds spice to the others' contributions, and even better allows him to reach points of near musical orgasm on 'I'm So Afraid'. John McVie's bass and Mick Fleetwood's drumming power the whole album, sleak and tight.
The extras on this deluxe reissue are admittedly not particularly abundant. There is a 1975 jam session between the 4 players (minus Nicks) and 4 singles versions of various tracks, which in fact are a little more punchy than the originals. But it is the album itself which should hold the listener's interest: there is no driftwood here, just fantastic music produced by a band which obviously had good musical and personal chemistry.
A classic
Oh, for the memory. An album that lead to thousand girls named Rhiannon, now in their twenties, looking just as beautiful as we dreamed they would be.
The secret of a great band is its drum and bass players. Nick Fleetwood and John McVie are probably the best around. The haunting melodies of Stevie Nicks and sheer lovin' fun of Christine McVie superbly arranged by Lindsey Buckingham.
The chemistry between these four was as good as the Beatles at their height.
Unforgettable.
Ah, it takes me back
Great to replace vinyl with this CD - especially as it has numerous bonus tracks and different versions on top of the original album.
