Bland presentation but still as addictive as ever5
This is the best version of PES that I have played yet and I have played them all, I am talking about the gameplay not the sound and presentation etc. I find it difficult to say why exactly it is better than the previous versions, but having played about twenty seasons of master league on each of every Pro Evolution Soccer on the playstation 2, I just know that this is the best as I have always tried out the previous one to see how it plays and it never feels right, the pace of the match just doesn't flow as smoothly as the newest version and this proves to me that they always improve the actual gameplay. The refree in particular as been improved in this version and also the A.I. defence is more intelligent which obviously makes the game harder, which is how it should be. I always play this game with everything set on the highest difficulty and in my opinion this is definitely the most difficult yet because in the previous versions it has roughly taken me about five to six seasons (including getting promoted) to actually win the Premiership in the master league. In this version it took me roughly about seven to eight seasons (including getting promoted). The last season that I completed, I won the Premiership and Champions league in the same season, but in the previous versions of Pro Evolution Soccer I would have won the treble by now.

I don't know how anybody can complain about this game being too difficult, even if it is too difficult, why don't these people just play it on an easier setting as there are enough difficulty settings to chose from. To me it is the difficulty and gameplay that have always made this game so special and it is because of this that I never get bored of scoring goals and winning trophies, because you really have to earn it even when like me you become really good at it, like a great football team in real life for example that is on a winning streak and seems unbeatable, I have a really good winning streak and then unexpectedly lose as if I have become a little arrogant, this then either affects my form or it makes me more determined to win the treble.

There is one more positive thing that I must mention about this version and that is the weather effects for example, in my copy of Pro Evolution Soccer 5 (I say my copy because I don't know for certain if it was just me), even though it was the first to have snow, there was no variation in the weather at all in the master league, only in exhibition matches and so it turned out to be a gimmick, but in this version the weather is much more varied now in the master league and so it will snow about two or three times a season in addition to randomly raining.

Anyway I just want to mention a few things that I hate in this game. The commentary is improved a little but overall as repetitive as ever, the music is as annoying as ever, And I have always found the PES Shop completely pointless apart from the Edit Masterleague structure from the start which is an absolute pain anyway, but it really should be available for free right from the beginning. I would like the PES Shop if it had something that was of any real use for example why not have a create a stadium mode or something like that, even if it was just being able to change the colour of it to match your own team, or even if they put some completely made up stadiums in there so you could have your own unique stadium for your team. One more thing that has always annoyed me is that when they re-name the teams, why do they have to make them as different as possible from the original names, why can't they just mis-spell them, it just makes the editing more difficult than it needs to be.

Anyway apart from that little moan that I just had, this is still by far the greatest football video game ever made, until the next one at least. FOOTBALL VIDEO GAME GOLD.

Very Good4
I have had this game since christmas and it hasn't disappoint.

The gameplay is realistic and the graphics are quite good as well. When playing there are five difficulites to choose from and many camera angles as well. It has multiplayer features as well, with up to eight players playing at one time. I would recommend this game to people who want a good football game with great gameplay.

However there are some downsides. For instance, the team names, strips and sometimes players are not official (e.g Liverpool are called Merseyside Red amd play in a plain red shirt. Or all the Wales team have made up names.) Master League is disapointing with no real match to career mode in Fifa. Also as well the commentators are very boring and annoying.

But if you can look past that then get this game.

An Inch From Greatness3
If only you had the rights! If this game had the correct kits, player names, team names and stadiums it would be leagues ahead of fifa. However it falls level because there is so much to do, but none of it feels like your managing your favourite club or winning the trebble, this could be amazing.
Although, if you don't care about authenticity, just about playing football, then you'll have a good laugh with this gameplay.
