finally something light and powerful
After trying so many antivirus software, I found this one to be the best. The others where either too heavy on the memory, that the computer will choke, and it will take it ages to do something, or too full of things and configurations, you do not know whether you are doing the right or the wrong thing. BitDefender is the best. First of all, easy to install, very light on memory, hourly updates, scan of suspecious files -even if there is no virus signature in the database-, powerful scan engine, the permananet shield is aweseome, does not leave anything at all without protection.
The scanning of individual folders and drives depends on their size, but i did a full scan of all my system, and Bitdefender finished the scan faster than the programme I had before. (which is more expensive than Bitdefender).
The interface is easy to use, configurations are straight forward, no hassle at all. Updates are done automatically and install immediately, all that with a good price and excellent bundle of protection.
I will certainly stick to this programme, so far it has been great...
take great care
The company selling this - I think it's DriBitdefender - has a very suspect business practice with regard to renewals. I subscribed for a year using my debit card, and then on prompting, for a second year. Without my approval they then set my status to 'automatic renewal'. A month before renewal was due at the end of the 2nd year I got an email saying my account would be debited - not 'did I want to renew'. It was from a no reply address, and the only link was to something call 'find my order', which sounded like a hopelessly remote third party outfit. I should have followed it there and then, but instead tried to dispute the payment with my debit card company - Nationwide Building Society. I was none too pleased with their disputes office, which seemed to be staffed by an inexperienced teenager, who said there was nothing she could do. Eventually I followed the find my order link and was able to change my status to manual renew, but still have ended up charged for this year.
By the way the reason I didn't want to renew is that Bitdefender does the Norton Antivirus trick of becoming a processor hog and slowing down your pc to a crawl. I uninstalled it and have been using AVG Free ever since - much better!
