Customer Reviews

Superb!5
Having read the print off the pages of this book, I found it superb andcovering everything one could possibly need to know. A table of offsets(or two) is the only thing missing. Then it would have been the perfect'Build Yourself a Kayak Book'. Well worth buying!

Comprehensive introduction to stitch & glue4
This is a quite comprehensive introduction to stitch-and-glue kayak building. It's well written, and so it should be, as the author is none other than the founder of Chesapeake Light Craft. Chris Culczycki digs deeply into his rich experience of designing and building stitch-and-glue kayaks. You'll find help to decide on what kayak you should build, tips on what materials you should use, and what tools you'll need. There are even scaled down plans, to give you an idea of what you're up against before you start building. The only thing the inexperienced boatbuilder will miss here, are detailed, complete plans, and step-by-step instructions. The process is very well explained, but the illustrations are not as abundant and detailed as in for instance "Kayaks You Can Build: An Illustrated Guide to Plywood Construction". I'd not hesitate to recommend this book for anyone planning to build a stitch-and-glue kayak.
