A classic - it's old
This book contains a lot of useful information. I would just like to emphasize, which is not clear, that the book is actually from 1941. Yes, four-one. So there's a lot of things that it doesn't cover, while it explains in great details other things. E.g. it spends over 70 pages on lofting. Today purchased plans usually are delivered lofted. Etc. If you are looking for a book on classic methods then this is a good book. If you want a more up-to date book, then this is not the one.

Excellent overview of wooden boat building.
A classic in every sense of the word. Howard I. Chapelle covers nearly every aspect of the design and construction of small, traditional, wooden craft. There is much insight to be gained, and the illustrations and plans included are priceless bits of our marine heritage. Worth a read, even if you don't plan on building a boat yourself.
