aaah - excellent
Was given this book 4 months after I started building a clinker-built (lapstrake) larch on iroko 10ft punt. Wish I had got it earlier! This book is excellent. Author's style is dry, not folksy a la Payson or other mainly US authors. But he knows his stuff and your get the feeling of a man happy to pass on the knowledge he has of a subject he loves. My copy is already dog-eared, marked up, bits photocopied, bits scanned and emailed to others.. . Nobody gets to borrow THIS book from me - buy your own.

Definitive guide
I'm a trainee shipwright and this book is a standard text for the course. It's very comprehensive and full of useful knowledge. Sad to say that the author, John Leather, a man of high standing in the boat building and designing world, died early in 2006.
One star deducted for the cost of the book, really just a standard size paperback that can fit in your pocket; much too expensive.
