Richard Birmingham has been involved in all aspects of the small craft sector of the marine industry including building, operating, designing and regulating small craft. He is currently Professor of Small Craft Design at Newcastle University.

poor
i bought this book thinking it would have been some help to me in building a boat . i got the impression the book was writen about 25 years ago before power tools. it doesnt actually tell you how to build a boat but instead talks about hand tools and site safety. i thought there might have been some drawing of a boat that i could have used to help me start my project but there wasnt .it just covers the very basics like materails to use but doesnt tell you how to use them. i dont know if this book would be of any use to any one trying to build a boat. i am a carpenter with 30 years experaince so i have an idea what im talking about
