Synopsis
In this new book top Powerseller Robert Pugh covers everything you need to know about succeeding on eBay; from the very first act of choosing your eBay user name through to the creation and management of your own business. eBay is very easy to use, to sell on eBay is not complicated and requires no sales experience. However, to use eBay to it's full potential, to maximise returns and develop a robust online business, does require an understanding of sales, marketing, and business processes. This book has been written for anyone who has ever considered the idea of owning their own business and being their own boss. Whether you want to supplement an existing income, or you want a complete change in life, this book is for you - giving you the confidence and knowledge you need to make that step. Written in plain English, this guide does not require the reader to have a grasp of complex industry jargon, all that is required is a desire to succeed and an open mind. Unlike other eBay guides, this handbook is based on the personal experiences of an established Powerseller. Everything from the practical concerns of international sales to the purchase of packing materials is covered here.
About the Author
After 24 years working for the same company, and many years within the corporate sales division, Bob Pugh realised it was time for a change.
He began selling on eBay in January 2003, initially by clearing his house of unwanted items, with very little knowledge of computers and no experience of selling via the internet. The first few months proved to be a steep learning curve. But he soon became an established eBay Power Seller and has sold over 5000 items.
Now, aged 40, he has retired from full time work and uses eBay to generate an income as and when it is required.
Customer Reviews
Only worthwhile for absolute novices...
OK, I realise that I'm sticking my neck out by disagreeing with most of the reviews here, but I was disappointed with this book.
That said, if you are a complete beginner to ebay and only intend to make a small amount of money from it, then it's probably for you - it covers all the basics in detail.
My main disappointment though is that it all seems rather obvious - anyone who has sold 2 or 3 items will know 90% of what is in this book.
A final point - do not buy this book if you intend to make a living, or a significant income, from ebay. Even in the introduction, where the author should be grabbing the reader's attention, he points out that a busy day nets him about £100 - before tax. Hardly a fortune. The fact that he considers this a good day, and moots taking the next day off because of it, does not speak of a man with ambition.
If you want some basic advice on selling low-value items and are new to ebay, then this book probably gives good advice. If your sights are set higher, don't bother.
Works for me
I read this book from cover to cover and found it both informative and enjoyable to read. From the moment I picked it up to study, I didn't want to put it down again. The content was sufficient to move the reader on from the "beginner" stage to greater things. This book will now remain a valuable reference book for me and I look forward to reading the author's new book.
Don't bother, the other reviews must be by his familly!
Just don't bother, I got this book because I was interested in dropshipping and when you search amazon for books on dropshipping this comes up as one of the first search results.
I should have gone to a bookshop and had a look at it before I payed for it, but nonetheless, I feel had.
Nothing, nothing AT ALL about drop shipping (how a large proportion of ebay business is conducted.
Instead I've got some complete time waster telling me about his family, coffee breaks with the dog etc. Twit
Don't buy this book, you'd frankly be better off sniffing glue in a darkened room than reading this twaddle.
