Fantastic educational fun
The dvd is a great mix of animation, story telling, songs and games.
Each of the 10 episodes improves on the last in difficulty.
Each episode is split into 3 parts. The first is computer animated and is in both french and english. It's good fun and includes a song relevant to the story (colours, pets, weather etc).
Then there is a short film of french children and their lives, followed by an ongoing cartoon of a football team. All with the same theme.
The songs can be listened to separately and there are 4 dvd-control interactive games which we loved.
Also comes with a cd and an activity book which improves what has been gained by the dvd.
I bought it for my 4 year old who watches it nearly every day (by choice!) and listens to the cd just as much.
She now understands basic french sentences and can answer the same in french! Even she didn't know how much she was learning. She sings the songs whenever and wherever and I can only give high praise for this brilliant product.
Fantastic way to learn
I love this DVD and haven't got fed up of the songs yet at all. My 3 and 5 year olds both ask for "Salute Serge" at every opportunity. It is very well written and designed, with loads of repitition of the important phrases. My 5 yr old can already say "Comment t'appelle tu?" and "Je m'appelle Simon" along with a few other words.
Loads better than Muzzy and a much better price also.
My 2 year old
When I first saw this DVD I too was extremely unimpressed with the CGI graphics. My two year old, however, was entranced.
The great things about this DVD are the fact that my 2 year old keeps asking to watch it (they must be doing something right), the really catchy songs and the sections where they show footage of French kids in France (gives you a real flavour for the people).
We also both like singing along to the CD (included with the pack) in the car.
Salute Serge!
If I could go back in time. I'd buy it again.
