Synopsis
Hoping to travel back in time to right an accidental slaying, a 12th-century knight and his bumbling squire are instead sent 900 years into the future. Once they get their 20th-century bearings, they set out to reclaim their castle (now a luxury hotel) and to figure out how to return to their own era.

Absolument splendide!5
I am French and I must say this is the best French film I have seen in quite a while, especially living in the UK.
The humour, jokes and play on words loose some of their meaning in its English subtitles. But I know English people who still very much enjoyed enjoyed it anyway.
I do not recommend the American remake "Just Visiting" which I have seen too, eventhough both Jean Reno and Christian Clavier remain the same characters, it is not a faithful version and is nowhere near as good. Besides, this film is SOOO good, I do not understand why the Americans had to have their own version made.
As for me, I have now watched it well over 50 times (call me sad) but it still gets me in stitches every time. A definit MUST SEE! "C'est dingue, OKAY!"

Les Visiteurs5
I was not in a great rush to see this film, having known about it for a while but being unconvinced that a French comedy would really work well for me. But it does, brilliantly. The subtitles do not detract at all from the humour, it had me laughing most of the way through. Superb acting and limited but effective special effects back up a decent, if basic, plot and and witty script. It is an idea that could have (and I believe has) been very badly done by Hollywood, but these guys get it spot on. Don't let the subtitles delay your enjoyment, I wish I had watched it ages ago!!

Something in French that any one can watch5
This IS a silly film but delightfully put together. It combines some wonderful farcical moments and superb over acting. The imcomprehension (of the two 12th Century visitors) in regard to 20th Century France is wonderful. The sending up of the stuffed shirt Bon Chic, Bon Gens (BCBG - Yuppies to the uninitiated) Montmirail family and their total accpetance of Jean Reno and Christian Clavier as possible long lost relatives is wonderful.. It does not matter that this is in French with subtitles... you won't notice them as the action is so obvious that everyone can understand it.. Get yourself a baguette, some brie, open some red wine and thoroughly enjoy yourself....
