Transfers5
This cable is simple to use and worked well for me it only took about
15 minutes for me but depends on how much you are transfering you only need the cd for the xp computer the other end of the cable plugs straight into the vista computer

Data tranfer cables are the best!4
I recently bought a new laptop and got a data tranfer cable - similar to the one listed and it was amazing - after 4 hours virtually all of my 6 years of files and programmes were effortlessly transferred from my 2003 laptop to my 2009 one, whilst i went shopping and got on with other things.

Put the CDR into my old laptop, let it install, plug in the USB cables and on my new vista laptop, press date transfer and it does it. After 4 hours it did stop working, but all that i wanted was on my new laptop, so i cannot praise these data tranfer cables enough and it is such a labour saving device.

Just remember to plug both your laptops in and make sure it is not set to hibernate or switch off after 1 hour of inactive use!

poor XP software2
I installed the drivers to each PC, connected the cable and the the PCs connected. The software then wanted to transfer all the user files. I deselected these and for a test i selected one small file of about 1MB is size. It reported that it was calculating the file size but did not start transferring. after about 10 minutes it was obvious that it was not working so I aborted. I restarted the PCs an tried again several times but could not get any files to transfer so I gave up. I am looking for other software that might work with the cable.
