Manufacturer's Description
The call of duty needs answering once again, as the blockbusting first person shooter series returns to the modern day. A direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, you now play new character Sgt Gary "Roach" Sanderson. Your commander is "Soap" from the first game as you join a multinational anti-terrorist squad out to stop Russian ultra nationalists.
Watch your squad grow from inexperienced rookies to veteran warriors |
The story mode features an even more varied series of locales than before, including a snowbound mission that starts with a daredevil mountain climb and ends with a high speed snowmobile chase as you make your escape. With other levels set in Afghanistan, Rio de Janeiro and even underwater this has more action than a dozen Hollywood blockbusters.
But that's just the single player mode - the multiplayer is even more ground-breaking than before, with new co-op options and even more rewards and perks for competitive play.

After working on Medal of Honor: Allied Assault for EA, Infinity Ward's first game as their own company was fellow World War II title Call of Duty. Since then the California company has never had time to do anything else, as the ongoing series has become one of the best-selling of all time.

Worth the wait
I picked this up last night at midnight from the place i work (game) and have been playing it ever since , it is outstanding. Graphically it is on another level to nearly all games out at that monent. It looks great on an HD tv but m sure it would look excellent on a normal tv. The single player took nearly six hours for me to complete which is quite short, it does not disapoint being all action from start to finish in a very nice variety of locations. There is a point in the story which is simply put the gaming moment of this year for me ( i know that makes no sense but when you arrive at it you will know). The only flaw is there is no Co-op story mode but that is made fine by the actual Spec-ops mode which is co-op and has a variety of missions, which are so good to play with a friend. I tried firing up the multiplayer earlier on this morning and already theres a load of people playing it and with good reason its great also i would say its better than in the original because of all the small difference that have been made, they add up to something big i feel.
Overall if you own a 360 you must buy this and experience the best game of the year.
Worth every penny - and yes - it meets all the hype in the world !
This is gaming at its absolute best. In HD is mind-blowing; the graphics incredible and the sound effects awesome. The maps are huge, vast and detailed and this game will (like its predecessor) provide months and months of top quality gaming.
After the wait, the hype and the queueing at midnight, I'm pleased to say it was all worth it. To anyone luckily enough not yet to have discovered the awesomeness of the COD games then buy in the knowledge you're about to enter a new world of incredible game play; to those already familiar - why haven't you bought this game yet ??
The "sad" thing about this game is that it blows away other "similar" titles, kinda spoils you, and sets a very high benchmark for future titles to attain.
Amazing!!
COD4-MW2 is amazing; some years back I purchased COD4 MW in two formats and loved them. Without spoiling it for people who might get it for xmas... etc. The graphics are just amazing and so much is going on you don't even realise some of the detail that's included. My only advice is play on Veteran Mode as it will extend the game play a few hours more. Plus you get most of the achievements. And like COD4 MW don't forget to collect the laptops :o).
The only negative comment is with the Press, slating the violent content on Act3, (which you can turn off at the beginning of the game). The fact is COD4 MW2 is a (18 Cert) and is based on fictitious war events around the world, including fictitious terrorist's events. This game is not Mario Kart and you don't collect fruit. It brings home the reality on what our men and women are going through in Afghanistan and other places in the world. This game gives me pride in our forces and the sacrifices they are making. Unfortunately our soldiers don't have the luxury of the restart button!!
