As World War II wages outside of a lonely hospital window, it also plays inside of the mind of Violette Summer. While in a coma, the British Intelligence agent relives both the hushed and heavy horrors that she experienced while sabotaging the Nazi regime.
Inspired by real-life WWII heroine Violette Szabo, Velvet Assassin reveals the revulsions of war that are never spoken aloud. Through third-person gameplay, sneak up on enemies and pull the pins from their belted grenades. Infiltrate a Nazi camp and slip cyanide to your own men before Germans make them talk. Slink through the shadows to finish off your unsuspecting enemies with a single, perfectly-aimed shot.
Through Violette's fever dreams, experience what she experienced. Walk where she walked. And kill those that she killed.
- Brutal Assassinations And Sabotage Missions. Bring your enemies to a violent end that they'll never see coming. For example, lure your enemy by whistle to a puddle of gasoline right before you ignite it.

Enjoyable Stealth Experience
I had been keeping my eyes on this game ever since I first heard about it. I nearly let all those negative & unfair reviews influence me into not getting it, but I'm glad to say that I did get it because this is a very good stealth game. I think the story is gripping and the graphics, especially the lighting are beautiful and atmospheric, as is the sound design, it reminds me of Thief, Deadly Shadows. The controls are very intuitive and the in-game camera is also very good. This is a proper stealth game and as such requires a lot of patients. If you like games like Thief, Deadly Shadows, Splinter Cell 1-3 and stalking your enemies from the shadows and stealth killing them then this is the game for you. This is not a run and gun shooter, its slow and you need to take your time because the enemy A.I. is very sharp and they will spot you. For all those so called "game journalist" who gave this game low scores 4s & 5s,you are wrong, this is a 7-8. please don't let them influence you as you would be missing out on a great stealth game.
Great Stealth and action game
This game is a very good stealth and action game. I have not yet completed it yet but i am very pleased with it so far. The cinematic like cutscenes during a dead are awsome and the use of the morphine make the game that little bit more exciting. I peticually find the music to be a real big part to the game with its tense atmosphere it completes the game. I have only found two things which are slightly annoying. This is the position of the check point, which are not well placed making it annoying if you die just before the end of a chapter. The second is the slight glitchy movement when violet is running. But otherwise i love this game and would like to see a second.
Nighties and Nazis
I would reccommend this game to everybody. The German developers should be commended for staying true and not shying away from the horrors of WWII and daring to actually create multi-faceted German soldiers who talk about girlfriends, home and the plight of the 'Lost' - many soldiers do not know the existence of the Holocaust nor the significance of it and the effect it has on the scared and usual drunk soldiers who have returned from such camps as Dachau/Auschwitz. The game's realism is NO double edged sword despite various journalists' reviews; sure this game is for a niche market but a market that has been waiting for such a game for a long time. It is unfair to compare it to Splinter Cell because it is trying to achieve different things. Violette Summer (based on real life war heroine Violette Szabo) is a gutsy heroine who despite the atroscities she is faced with makes the gamer comfortable with her wide array and ingenious skills as you explore realistic sewers, bunkers and Parisian crypts. A truly original and interesting aspect is Morphine Mode, as the story is based on Violette's 'fevered dreams' as she lies wounded in a hospital bed in rural France the player has the oppurtunity to collect morphine syringes which Violette can administer from the 'comfort' of her hospital bed. Time stops and Violette transforms into a skimpy negligee with her trusty combat knife, both eerie and surreal she dances through the playgrounds of war taking down anyone in her way. It's great fun for patient gamers who enjoy stalking, stealth and subterfuge - so buy it, you won't be dissapointed! ^_^
