xbox 360 elite all the way!!!!
Make It An Elite, Sir....
I am a pretty avid gamer and have been trying to decide for ages which console to buy. As a Nintendo fanboy, I was one of the few who was able to buy a Wii on launch day, and I wasn't too disappointed - but it wasn't really the games console that I wanted, it is more of a toy that is kinda cool when your friends come round. So about two months ago, I thought I would buy either the PS3 or the 360. My flatmate has had the Premium 360 (20gb etc.) for a while now and that pushed me in the direction of Microsoft, and the high price of the PS3 and the infuriating controller put me off. So - why should you buy the Elite?
It's arrived, and I've played it for a good while. It's remarkably quiet - all new 360s feature the Falcon 65nm motherboard reducing heat and therefore noise - and in black looks seriously cool. The 360 controller I think is fantastic, as it allows you to control all the buttons and, crucially, both analogue sticks with ease. The PS3 controller I find to be superb unless you use the analogue sticks, in which case you need to hold it slightly out of your hands. Sure, the 360 doesn't have Wi-Fi built in, but if you're planning on using it for gaming you are much better off buying a 20m CAT5e LAN cable and plugging it in to your router - the latency is superb and if you hook up your PC you can watch all your films, or plug in your iPod to the 360 and listen to your music...it's awesome. Go Elite.
Reliability issues!
I have owned the premium console since its launch those many years ago, For me my 360 has performed flawlessly, been dropped on its side, had drink spilt on it. It has also had the 3 and 4 red lights, but still it plays on. I'll put this down to shear luck and not microsoft build quality! ;) My one pain about the console is the dam disk drive noise, it is like a plane taking off! other than that its the balls! xbox live also rocks, the PS3 online is slow and always craps out on me!
