Useful training aid
I got one of these to help improve my breathing. I regularly run, cycle and weight train and was surprised by the resistance that this device can give. I am asthmatic, which was a principle attraction and can see this as a benefit to anyone who trains on a regularly basis. The guidelines don't give the most convenient program, but it adds a much needed workout which I otherwise clearly haven't been getting. I purchased from Amazon UK and received a sealed, clean item, which I noticed another reviewer didn't. It's a brilliant device which dismantles and reassembles easily for cleaning and even has its own bag, easy to hand wash. I use Milton to sterilise the unit on a regularly basis, obviously there are options. Rinsing with clean water after every use and drying thoroughly. It maybe helpful for some to note, fungi requires moisture and heat to grow and is best not inhaled.

Good design, terrible quality control
Two of these were bought as Christmas gifts in our home, one for me (Fitness Plus) one for my son (Performance Plus). Son, who'd seen the thing before, went straight into trying his out. I took my time opening the package and found the inside of the packaging covered with short black curly hairs, apparently human. Closer inspection revealed the power breathe itself was covered with them, inside and out. The thing is supposedly made of antibacterial plastic, comes with sterilising tablets, so they seem to understand that hygiene matters. We checked my son's and discovered hairs on and in his, but by this time he'd breathed in several times, very deeply, and must unavoidably have inhaled some of these hairs. It's clearly not just one batch, because we had two different models.

In these situations, money back guarantees are utterly irrelevant. They don't mitigate the health hazard, and they don't take away the horrible disappointment of the giver. We ended up just vigorously washing the units and then sterilising them with the enclosed tablets. The fabric carry bags we ditched as it was too much trouble to clean them.

And they work. They're easy to use, and you feel the effect very quickly. They're light and neat to carry around. I like mine, my son likes his. We'll see how long we persist with them. But the contempt for the customer shown by the company's failure to exercise basic quality control is shameful and hard to forget. Seems like contempt for the customer is a basic principle in modern business. And shame on amazon for not checking them before mailing them out, too.

Power Breathe
As with the previous reviewer, the unit contained what looked to be small hairs. However, on closer inspection, I believe they are short synthetic fibres. That said, I doubt whether inhaling them is good for you! Without this problem, I would have given the product the full 5 stars.
