The tools arrived in a black plastic bag, the metal logo had fallen off the presentation box and the metal fastening at the side of the box had broken.
The quality of the tools was not quite what I'd expected, certainly not worth the RRP of approx £25 and not good enough to give to someone as a Christmas present. Very disappointing. More no no no, than hoe hoe hoe!

I've never laid hands on the tools, but my mother was pretty effusive about her birthday present. I almost felt bad because they were so cheap. They must be worth it!

Perfectly good quality at the price
If you look at the RRP for this set, it's almost double the RRP of the tools alone. That would not be good value. However, Amazon's price for the set is about the same as the tools' RRP, so if you look at it that you're paying full-price for the tools with a free gift-box, then it makes a lot more sense. The tools are comparable quality to others of that price. Yes, there are sturdier tools for heavy-duty work, but they cost more.

These tools are more than sufficient for the majority of moderate garden work, and the presentation box makes them ideal as a gift. The wooden handles are a good size and nicely-shaped, and the tools are pleasantly 'weighty' without being too heavy. A couple of niggles: the tines on the fork could have been made of slightly thicker steel, and the large trowel could have been bigger; it isn't that much larger than the potting trowel.

Note the box supplied isn't quite as nice as the one in Amazon's picture; it only has one clasp and no carry-handle. Faithfull's own website shows the box they currently supply. The green insert is 'flocked' plastic (ie a slightly fuzzy/felty finish) which is nice, although the plastic is a bit flimsy.

So, if you want the sturdiest, highest-quality, garden hand tools in the world, don't buy this set. But if you want a nice set of mid-range tools, particularly to give as a gift, this set fits the bill perfectly.
