The magical new novel from the number 1 bestselling author of "PS, I Love You" and "Where Rainbows End". Since Sandy Shortt's childhood schoolmate disappeared twenty years ago, Sandy has been obsessed with missing things. Finding becomes her goal - whether it's the odd sock that vanished in the washing machine, the car keys she misplaced in her rush to get to work or the graver issue of finding the people who vanish from their lives. Sandy dedicates her life to finding these missing people, offering devastated families a flicker of hope. Jack Ruttle is one of those desperate people. It's been a year since his brother, Donal vanished into thin air and the sleepless nights and frantic days aren't getting any easier. Thinking Sandy Shortt could well be the answer to his prayers, he embarks on a quest to find her. But, when Sandy goes missing too, her search ends when she stumbles upon the place - and people - she's been looking for all of her life. A world away from her loved ones and the home she ran from for so long, Sandy soon resorts to her old habit again, searching. Though this time, she is desperately trying to find her way home!

Customer Reviews
It took a while but I liked it
I have just this minute finished reading this book. First impresstions, strange! and where is it going? But I carried on reading it and it started to grow on me. I can see 'if you could see me now' was a stepping stone to this book, and it was an improvement as I didn't enjoy that book, more of a childrens book. This book is different to the traditional 'boy meets girl' chic lit she has wrote. This book is an improvement from her last one but not as great as 'P.S I love you' and 'Where the rainbow ends'.
Magical!
I've read all of Cecelia's books now, and thoroughly enjoyed all of them. 'A Place Called Here' is more akin to 'If You Could See Me Now' than the other two in that it's a more magical book, with (as the quote on the back cover testifies' 'more than a touch of fairytale.' Sure, it's hardly a great work of literature, but it's good fun and like her other novels is a bit of an emotional rollercoaster. And like her other novels, it brought a hint of moisture to my cynical old eyes over the closing pages. Wonderful.
Exactly the same word for word to A place called here!
I understood that this was a new book coming out at the end of January 2008. I received it at the beginning of January 2008 in time for my daughter's birthday and then found that it was exactly the same as the book I had given her at Christmas - A Place Called Here. I was really disappointed. Can someone explain this to me!
