Captain Teggs is no ordinary dinosaur - he's an astrosaur! On the incredible spaceship DSS Sauropod, along with his faithful crew, Gypsy, Arx and Iggy, Teggs rights wrongs, fights evil and eats a lot of grass! Teggs and his crew have been sent to a watery planet where a very large and very scary monster has been attacking a local fish factory. When Teggs and Gipsy travel down to the bottom of the sea to check out the monster, they come under attack themselves - and end up in the company of a rather strange creature with amnesia...Will they manage to find their way back to the surface?

About the Author
Born in 1971, Steve Cole spent a happy childhood in rural Bedfordshire being loud and aspiring to amuse. He liked books, and so went to the University of East Anglia to read more of them. Later on he started writing them too, with titles ranging from pre-school poetry to Young Adult thrillers (with more TV and film tie-ins than he cares to admit to along the way). In other careers he has been the editor of Noddy magazine, the voice of a Dalek and an editor of fiction and nonfiction book titles for various publishers.

Stegs in space - pre-teen classic sci-fi tales
My son (9) isn't very good at reading, so I read this book to him at bedtime. He really enjoyed it and so we bought the rest of the series (4 books at present) to encourage him to like books as much as Playstation 2, TV and DVD's. Most books we have are shared with his 11 year old sister, so he appreciated a good boys book. The sci-fi stories are quite good (we are Dr Who & Dan Dare fans) and you get a boys favourite (dinosaurs) thrown in as well. The series follows the space adventures of a troupe of vegetarian dinosaurs (they escaped the meteor hit 50 million years ago by leaving Earth in spaceships). In this book a ferocious sea monster appears to be on the loose in the water world of Aqua Minor. Astrosaurs Tegs and Gipsy travel to the bottom of the sea to investigate - rather them than me.
This is a good read, but would have been better if we had started with the first book though as that sets the scene and introduces the characters - 'Riddle of the Raptors'. My sons says 'It was cool, I liked the characters and the pictures. I also liked the cut-out cards at the back'. I would think the books would suit any pre-teen boy older than four, who appreciates space travel. Being a Sci-Fi fan, I also enjoyed reading them. Recommended.
A bit scary!
I think that it was quite good, and I thought it was very, very funny when they went into the sea. I think I liked it a little less than the other two, because I thought they might get lost in the sea so I was a bit scared.
I think my favorite Astrosaur card (in the back of the book) was the Foes one, Mira.
Absolutely awesome!
The Seas of Doom is the third Astrosaur book. The first two are brimming with danger, funny things and miracles... but this one has a mystery added to the plot, as the culprit behind the sunken sea factory is revealed. As a good friend transforms into a dangerous enemy, Teggs must report the truth to his crew: Gipsy, Arx and Iggy. But all the time a new darkness is gathering in the sea. Brimming with everything you could have in a story. Absolutely awesome! (Kit, aged 8)
