The Liddiards have lived at Honeycote House for generations. But all that might be about to change ... Rakishly charming Mickey Liddiard has several problems. Unbeknownst to his angelic wife Lucy, his family run business Honeycote brewery - the mainstay of picturesque Honeycote - is up to its beer-bottle neck in debt. His drinking is getting out of control. And his affair with local millionaire's wife Kay is more about peace-keeping than passion. And for each of Mickey's misdemeanours there is a knife being sharpened. Ambition, greed and good old-fashioned revenge all conspire to bring about his downfall - but will true love save the day?

Customer Reviews
Move over Jilly
The thing I always hated about Jilly Cooper's novels was the awful puns. This book has all the things I loved about Ms Cooper's books and more but those dreadful puns were mercifully missing - what a relief.
The characters are just as much fun, the setting (the Cotswolds) and section of society are very similar, but the writing is several times better and considerably less irritating. I devoured this is a couple of days and it left me wanting more, I especially wanted to know what happened to Keith, Mayday and Kay after this novel's conclusion - I want a sequel and I want it soon! The perfect holiday novel, let's hope every summer brings another!
An amazing discovery
This is a really fun read. I picked it up because a friend said it was as good as Jilly Cooper's Riders but I think it's even better - there are at least two characters - Patrick and Mickey - who are even sexier than Rupert Campbell Black and lots of people to relate to. There are so many great characters and loads of different plots with masses of sex and suspense and a really satisfactory ending.
Entertaining.
This was the second book I'd read by Veronica Henry, the first one being 'Making Hay' and I know that the two books are closely related but on reading 'Honeycote' I could hardly remember the characters from the other one I read some months ago, which is not a good sign.
Nevertheless, this was still a good book, entertaining, and in some parts humourous. Although I did feel that there were maybe too many storylines included, if a couple were dropped and others concentrated on - rather than rushed and skipped over - it might have been better.
But that niggly little detail has not put me off and I already have her next offering 'Wild Oats' ready to read soon, so the author has captured my attention enough to get me to buy all of her published books at the moment, which is always a good sign.
