Customer Reviews
A beautifully captivating read
This is a hauntingly beautiful book. The writing is poetic and explores the love that a mother has for her son. If you have ever doubted that we are born survivors and that there is always hope then read this and doubt no more.
I was truly caught up in the battles that have faced the author and her son and was moved to tears by some of the things that doctors said to her. Ultimately I cared for the characters and that is a true sign of a great book - I really wanted to know what happened at the end and was sad to leave the world that the author had so vividly painted for me.
A true, true tale
My child has profound and multiple difficulties and this was the first book that I have ever read that has captured the pain and the joy of the experience of motherhood in these circumstances. I cried and shouted out in relief in equal measure, in recognising my anguish, my anger and my love for my child in every beautiful and resonant line. Thank you so much Nia.
Very moving story
This is a deeply moving personal account of one mother's love for her severely disabled son, Joe and his love in return
Anyone who has children, especially healthy children, will be very humbled by the writers endless giving and commitment to her son.
Beautifully written and very profound, every parent should read this book.
