During the summer holidays, Sophie landed herself the main part in a locally shot big-screen film. Now she faces a new challenge - starting secondary school and trying to fit in whilst underplaying her recent stardom. Then when she is cast as Lucy for the theatre production of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe she is over the moon. However, she soon finds herself struggling with some of the dance routines but can't quite bring herself to admint she needs help. Through the course of the term and the lead-up to the exciting first night, Lucy finds there is much to learn about growing-up and just how important loyalty, honesty and, more than anything, friendship are.

BUY IT!
This book was a really good read. I finished it all in one sitting and it was so good I had to read it again straight away. (This REALLY didn't please my RE teacher.)
'Centre Stage' is about budding film star and actress, 11 year old Sophie Tennison who gets the main part in a stage production of 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. At first she is really happy about it, until she starts trying to learn the dances.
Meanwhile, she's just started Secondary School and everyone around her is changing. Her best friend Ally has been put in a different class and is spending less and less time with her. And her other best friend Harriet is being bullied and won't accept help from anyone.
While her school life is turning upside-down, her life on the stage is turning into a nightmare. She is way behind the others with her dancing and positively dreads her ballet solo. The fact that there is so much rivelry between the two teams of child actors doesn't help either.
I'd give this book ten out of ten: it is a must have for all 9-14 year olds.
