Wendy Cooling was educated in Norwich. After travelling, she became a teacher which she later left to work as Head of the Children's Book Foundation. Stories for all ages
The CD is excellent. My daughters, who are aged 4 & 7, and I listen to the stories again and again, particularly in the car. We all enjoy them and all have our favourites. There's a good mix of traditional and modern and the actors read them beautifully. As a result, we bought the one for 7 year olds which my older daughter and I also love (my younger daughter doesn't understand them so well). My girls are bilingual Spanish (first language) and English, and the stories are also a great help in building their listening and general language skills.

Puffin Book of Stories for Five-year-olds
I would highly recommend this tape for any five year old who likes listening to stories. It has a good mixture of traditional and modern stories which my daughter has found both entertaining and interesting. Importantly the stories are well read, clear and easy to understand. I especially like the modern stories which are both relevant and true to life. Good buy.

Sensational CD
Wonderful selection of stories perfect for a five year old. Stories aren't too twee, which is what I have found of stories for this age group in the past. Just scary enough in places to add a bit of interest, but not scary enough to keep your child awake all night. My child listened to this CD every night for a long time.
