Product Description

From the very first day that they move to the Oddlode Valley, it's inevitable that young teacher Mo Stillitoe, recently separated socialite Diana Lampeter and cool, retired dressage diva Anke Brakespear will find their lives entangled. Despite their differing generations and backgrounds, the women are on a relocation collision course. As inept removal men deliver furniture - and even horses - to the wrong houses, other moves are being made ...Mo's bad boy lover takes Diana's eye, Anke's flirtatious husband immediately suggests Mo hop into bed with him - and Diana's local heart-throb brother comes joyfully face to face with the Danish ice-maiden he posted on his wall as a teenager. As a long, hot Indian summer burns its embers into winter, the newcomers settle into their beautiful frost-hugged surroundings, generating enough heat to melt every heart in Oddlode. New passions ignite and old flames are fanned amid the honeyed villages, enchanted gardens, haunted parkland and raucous country social life. The heat is on, and sparks fly - but is this just a flash in the pan or is somebody fuelling the fire?

somewhat disappointing....2
After reading 'lots of love' and enjoying it, I was keen to read this title, which is set in the same village as the previous book. I had good expectations of an easy, enjoyable read and was sorry to be let down... mainly because the characters are all so unlikeable. The story follows several characters but there wasn't a person that i identified with or even liked out of the whole lot! Ok, you do warm to some of them eventually, but it's too far into the book. The author is keen on using puns and throwaway one liners which aren't particularly amusing, especially when thrown in so often, and the whole style seems to emulate a poor Jilly Cooper (even a map of the village at the beginning of the book in true Jilly style!)There's also an arson/ haunted woods plotline that is disjointed from the main story and confusing to follow at times; the characters feeding you a bit of information at a time about these plots, obviously designed to keep you guessing but actually ending up being a bit irritating.
So, it wasnt all bad, it does keep you turning the pages, and its a fairly gentle summer read.... but not up to last efforts at all.

Don't waste your money1
This book is appalling, I've previously enjoyed Fiona Walker's books but this one is dreadful. The plot is ridiculous in the extreme and the characters unbelievable and unlikeable, basically the whole thing is just a mish mash of a muddled weak plot interspersed with bits of tawdry sex from characters who seem to be permanently on heat.

Not her best.2
I have been a fan of Fiona Walker and always look forward to her next book but was very dissapointed with this one. It is very confusing with to many characters to keep up with. One of the reasons i would usually pick Fiona Walkers books is her realistic and often humerous approach but this book is very far fetched and found my self skimming through some irrelivent pages. You usually warm to the main characters in Fiona Walkers books but with this one there are so many main characters it is hard to have any opinion because you are trying to keep up. The base was there for another great read but was very dissapointed with this one.Wouldn't reccomend it if you are a first to Fiona Walkers books but if you are a fan of her past work like me, i would read it just because it's by Fiona Walker but be prepared for a let down.
