Product Description

A travelling supper party - held in a different house every month - seems like the perfect way for village neighbours to socialize. Lucy wants to introduce new fiance Mike to her neighbours. And getting out in the evening might help her friend Chrissie to focus on something other than that baby. Maybe she can even do a little matchmaking for her sister Jenny. And it's the perfect excuse to meet the fashion model who's stolen her friend Maggie's husband. Of course, the supper parties don't quite work out the way Lucy meant them to . . .

Isabel Matthews5
I've enjoyed reading all of Sophie King's novels so far, and `The Supper Club' proved to be no exception.

There are four main female characters. Each chapter is told from a different point of view, in turn.

Let me point out here that the characters are so well written and so easily distinguishable, that I found it wasn't a problem at all to immediately establish the character viewpoint for each new chapter.

These ladies and their partners meet for dinner at each other's houses once a month. The dinner parties themselves are very entertaining and in-between parties there's plenty of juicy story-line.

Sophie's characters are very believable. Many times I found myself nodding in agreement with their opinions and feeling empathy for their situations. There are enough surprises and cliff-hangers in this book to keep you turning the page. I often promised myself late at night that I'd definitely stop reading at the end of the chapter, only to find I was completely unable to do so!

Sophie tells an amusing and heartfelt story. I would definitely recommend this book.

I've just purchased her latest book, 'The Wedding Party' and I can't wait to get reading.

A fun read4
Not a brilliant book but fun to read.

About several couples who meet for dinner once a month, and the events in their life: a woman with a lover and three teenage children, a couple with a baby, a model and her new married boyfriend, the single sister of the first woman, who is NOT keen on having a date found for her (so tries to get someone to come along with her to the dinners.

During about a year of dinners we learn more and more about these people and how things are not what they seem.

Easy to read but sometimes a bit improbable.

Such a delicious read - almost edible!5
I had read half of this book before I knew it. Honest, funny and terrific storytelling! Sophie King has a charming way of imparting wisdom without pretention. The menus for each of the monthly supper parties arranged by Lucy, a widowed mother hoping to integrate her the new love in her life with friends and family, are given just to add colour and flavour to the chaotic relationships of the guests. Four couples, an ex-mother-in-law, several unpredictable children, a lost lover, a mad father, jealous sisters, a furious abandoned wife and a dog addicted to Brie cheese all clamour within these lively pages for your attention!

This book bubbles with warmth and good humour in spite of the events which seem to turn everyone's world upside down, solutions are found, angers released and forgiven and .... yes, this is an almost perfect piece of escapism! Well worth a few hours of your time!
