Customer Reviews
Shocking, Dark and Humourous - I LOVE IT!
It is fantastic to have all of these plays in one book. Each one is a gem, a dark gem at that. It catalogues Ravenhill's controversial debut with Shopping and F***ing - a tale of drugs, consumerism, scepticism and love in a disposable world. Very refreshing and witty. Handbag examines the role of parenting in this age of diverse sexualities, with everything from biological engineering to sperm banks - nothing is left untouched. Again, darkly humourous with searing wit. Faust puts the famous philosopher in the modern day - he arrives in Los Angeles as a major celebrity and appears on a number of chat shows, a very intelligent juxtopposition of time, just see what happens when Faust is introduced to virtual reality - what a philosophical can of worms. Over all, this is a fantastic collection of very witty, dark, humourous and intellectual plays. Each page should have the word 'genius' stamped on it.
Mark Ravenhill Plays 1
If you like shocking and witty Theatre, this is a fantastic collection of some 'In Yer Face' Plays. I am currently studying Performing Arts and I found this collection a challenging and enjoyable read. 'In-Yer-Face Theatre' by Alex Sierz is also a good read for students as it analyses and makes reference to a few of the plays in the Book.
