Making a hard choice
Reisil is an orphan taken in by the city of Kallas, who have fed her and paid for her apprenticeship with a healer. Now her greatest dream is to become the city's healer. But then her world is changed at an instant, when a goosehawk finds her and she knows she is destined to become ahalad-kaaslane, one of the Lady's chosen.
She tries to shrink from this responsability and remain in her known world, but her path of fate becomes know, when a noblelady is abducted in order to ruin a peace treaty and cast her country once again into war.
This book is certainly worth a read, and don't expect to put it down to sleep. Reisil is a very worthy heroine, and it is a joy to follow her grow into her powers and into a place in life. I liked the world drawn in this book and look forward to reading about it again.
Path Of Fate
Abandoned as an infant reisil is cared for collectively by the people of kallas. Frequently cast out by other children she grows up in solitude. Now, older she is a Tark (healer) and is trying to earn the respect of kallas. However, when a goshawk arrives from the lady (goddess) she knows her destiny is changed and her humble life as a Tark shatters around her.
Soon the whole of Kallas hangs in the balance and it is up to to stop the oncoming war.
This Book is a rare find and is well thought out i would reccommend it to all 9/10
p.s. The story continues with Path Of Honor and then Path Of Blood.
Great beginning to new series
Very enjoyable work. The part which I liked best is when the action began when the war is impending. Exciting and thrilling. The character develpement was well done and the story is progressed nicely though the use of dialog. You will enjoy it.
**A book I would also recommend is The Unsuspecting Mage by Brian S. Pratt. This, the first installment of The Morcyth Saga is a great beginning for a new author. Battles, magic, gods, secret passages and intrigue, all the elements of a classic epic fantasy! Any fantasy reader will enjoy it
