A gripping read5
My 9yo son borrowed this book from his school library and I read it with him. But then I found it so gripping that I wanted more than just our father-and-son reading sessions with this book. I took it away and read it all to myself - and once I'd started, I couldn't put it down.

This is a superb book - accessible and not too challenging to read, but more gripping than any Harry Potter tome. On one level, it's a simple adventure story about a girl who wants to prove she's innocent of a crime she's been accused of. On another level, it's about the challenges of growing up and being accepted. And it's about so much more than that as well...

To put it simply, Malorie Blackman shows with this book that she is an author who really and truly understands her readers, and is able to give them what they want - a bit of real-life drama, the kind that any teenage school pupil can relate to; plus a nerve-jangling adventure, and a bit of psychology, showing how over-reacting to any bad situation will only make matters worse, with potentially catastrophic results...

All in all, a wonderful book that I can't recommend highly enough.

Another great novel by Malorie Blackman5
Lydia Henson wants to be in a gang at school, but to do so she must steal a cup from the cabinet and keep it in her locker for a day. She thinks this is a terrible thing to do and decides against it. However, the next day the cup is found in her locker. After enduring bullying at school for this, she finds herself transported to the future, where she finds her village is transformed. The terrifying village of Hensonville is run by no other than her brother, who has become a tyrant. She must find out why and how to stop this before returning to the present to find out who framed her.
This story tells of bullying and is an enthralling tale of time travel. It shows how it can be bad to join a gang and has a pleasing ending. I would definitely recommend it.

Outstanding imagination5
Once again Malorie Blackman shows what an outstanding, astounding imagination she has and what a fantastic writer she is. This book is amazing. I love the fact that Lydia wakes up in the future and finds out how the present has so devestatingly effected the past. And the confrontation between Lydia and a certain other person in the future was one of the most thrilling things I've ever read. Very highly recommended.
